The Story

A common installation fitting for backstops, ballfield fencing, and dog kennels, the chain link end rail clamp is used to link two pieces of fence piping without the time or expense of welding. The clamp is made of two identical parts that, when put together, form a stumped, T-shaped brace. To attach the pipes, enclose the clamp’s shorter “loop” around the center of a piece of fence pipe. The second pipe is inserted through the longer “loop,” thereby creating a T-joint.

Next, secure the two clamp pieces together using a carriage bolt (sold separately). Gently inch the second pipe—the one held in the longer “loop”—downward until it sits just past the square-shaped screw hole in the clamp. Insert the carriage bolt all the way through until the screwed end sticks out the other side. Tightening with a nut will seal the two clamp pieces together and, with it, the two pipes.

This chain link end rail clamp is made of galvanized steel for superior rust resistance. Hence why it’s ideal for sports fencing. Capable of withstanding precipitation, it will be a strong fence panel component for years to come.

How the part fits? The clamp consists of 2 galvanized steel pieces that sandwich two pieces of pipe in a T joint. 

Where is it installed? End rail clamps can be used to secure a bottom rail or mid-rail to a chain link fence. Commonly you will see end rail clamps used on backstops, baseball field fencing, tennis court fencing, and outdoor dog kennels.

How many do you need? Each clamp consists of 2 pieces that together sandwich one T joint. Typically you will need two clamps per post-to-post stretch of fence.
